Hello and greetings from New Zealand!
I have been gaming for some years now, and as a disabled gamer without the use of my hands, voice control is an integral part of my gaming experience (for those who may be interested in more detail I have written articles on the subject
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/disabled-gamers-can-play-anything/ )
I have primarily used the excellent application; Game Commander 2. This combined with a headmounted pointing device for mouse movement and a puff switch for a single mouse click has allowed me to game successfully in many different genres.
The now discontinued Game Commander 2, still works perfectly but my recent purchase of VoiceBot is through a desire to explore the many features and advantages that it looks to offer.
So, to my queries.
1 the Global Command feature is something that I have found as extremely useful in other applications I have used. It is great to see it available here. One of my essential global commands is the ALT–TAB method for minimising the game window and showing the desktop. Unfortunately, it is not working. I have tried all the other key combinations that I could find for achieving the same effect, but I continue to be unable to come out of the gaming window and return to the desktop.
2 the Mouse Wheel feature is very much a standard way of switching between different weapons or inventory items. In 99% of the games that I play/have played I have been able to remap to a keystroke and thus easily get around the problem of not being able to use a mouse. Unfortunately the game that I am playing to test VoiceBot does not allow for the mouse wheel to be remapped. I see that VoiceBot however has a mouse wheel selection, but I have so far been unable to get it working.
I see voice control in gaming as an extremely useful and intelligent addition to the conventional input methods, and possessing great potential. Thus, I congratulate Binary Fortress for a product that can allow for a enhanced gaming experience and the chance to share knowledge gained. Bravo!
Thank you for reading, and any assistance, tips regarding my current problems would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
DJO
